Here is a summary of available grants and loans for making energy efficiency and other home improvements.
Green Homes Grant
Through the new government £2billion Green Homes Grant scheme homeowners and private or social landlords in England will be able to apply for vouchers to pay for green improvements e.g. insulation or low carbon heat, of up to £5,000 per household. With government grants covering two-thirds or more of the cost and the homeowner or landlord contributing the remainder. For owner-occupier and park home households on low incomes, the scheme will fully fund energy efficiency measures of up to £10,000 per household. Find out more about Green Homes Grant here.
Energy Company Obligation (ECO)
You may be eligible for free or subsidised energy efficiency improvements e.g. insulation, broken boiler, first-time central heating, if you meet certain eligibility criteria e.g. means-tested benefits, disability benefits, tax credits. Support may be available to owner-occupiers, private tenants and in some cases social housing tenants. Read more about ECO funding here.
ECO Flexibility
Local councils can identify and put forward households they consider to on a low income and vulnerable to the effects of living in a cold home or low income with high energy costs but not receiving eligible benefits. Please contact your council to find out if they are participating. More information on ECO funding here.
